A fantastic beginner’s guide to fiber arts for young girls. After several months of trying to teach my daughter hand sewing, I bought this book, which arrived in a week. As soon as she read the Sewing chapter, she ran to her room and closed her door. When she emerged, she had created a little ‘outfit’ for the paperboard doll (attached to the cover). This book has scored high in our home!

I really love this book, and can not wait to start projects with my daughter. My expectations where met and exceeded. It is a cleverly crafted, well put together resource for learning to sew, embroider and knit. The best book I have seen of its kind so far.

This is a GREAT book for children (wish they hadn’t put just “girls” in the title!) to learn knitting, sewing and embroidery and has some of the best, most creative projects I’ve seen in a long time … my 7 yod LOVES this book. The binding is a good solid spiral with VERY heavy cardstock for the cover, so it should stand up to some use…. the projects are great for kids 6-10 or so and very do-able and fun …. for instance, there are some practice sampler pages in the embroidery section that are printed on card stock and the child can stitch right onto that to make sure they have even stitches … and the cards would be cute for decorating or using as greeting cards — very clever!
